About Me
I am a journalist in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who is passionate about accountability journalism and narrative storytelling.
I started college when I was fifteen through an early college entrance program at the University of North Texas called the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science. During the two years I was a student in this program, I took courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and calculus. I entered the program planning to become an ornithologist, but soon discovered an interest in journalism and joined the North Texas Daily, the student newspaper at UNT.
After graduating from TAMS, I decided to stay at UNT. I declared a double major in journalism and international studies and a minor in Arabic. I took courses in written, photo, and video journalism, as well as in subjects like political science, history, and religion. I also studied abroad twice: I spent summer 2023 in Amman, Jordan studying Arabic intensively through the U.S. State Department's Critical Language Scholarship program. I then studied Mayan history and culture in Mérida, México over winter break.
At the North Texas Daily, I wrote in the news section as a staff writer for six semesters, then served as news editor in spring 2024. In fall 2024, I held the position of editor-in-chief, and I was a copyeditor and DEI beat reporter for the spring 2025 semester. While at the Daily, I covered topics such as local government, university affairs, scientific research, and the intersection of state government and higher education. I covered breaking news events, written enterprise stories based on data and public records, taken photos, and even gained some page design skills.
I graduated in spring 2025 with bachelor's degrees in journalism and international studies.
I am currently a reporting fellow at the Fort Worth Report, a nonprofit, nonpartisan digital news outlet covering Tarrant County. I have primarily covered health, but I have also written stories about business, arts and culture and education.
